Oregon Scientific BAR938HGA Cable Free Weather Station with Thermo-Hygrometer and ExactSet Clock
Amazon.com
A great gadget for the seriously climate minded, this cable-free station from
Oregon Scientific tracks weather patterns and keeps absolutely punctual time.
The primary station takes measurements from its immediate surroundings and also
communicates with the remote sensor, which can be mounted outdoors up to 100
feet away. A large LCD screen shows temperature, humidity, and comfort level for
both locations. It also depicts weather forecasts in kinetic-movement graphics
and tracks overall trends in recent readings. Adjustable for altitude, the
device's barometer charts a 24-hour pressure trend on a easy-to-read bar graph,
while an eight-part indicator tracks tidal changes and moon phases. The
station's ExactSet clock, designed for use in the continental U.S., sets itself
by the U.S. Atomic Clock, resynchronizes six times a day, and adjusts for
daylight savings. Handy extras include a blue backlight, a date display, a
crescendo alarm with snooze, and a low-battery indicator. The kit can handle up
to two additional remote sensors. --Emily Bedard
